    • Recent Advances for Direct and Indirect Reading Level Gages
    • Using details from the events at the Texas City Refinery in 2005 and the Philadelphia Refinery in 2019 as a backdrop, we’ll explore ASME Section I Code requirements for level indication and move on to recent directions for improving the safety and reliability of level gages at powerhouses and in process units at refineries.     As a contributor to the US Chemical Safety Board investigation at Texas City and with a long connection to the Philadelphia Refinery, Mr. Henwood shares ways to protect plant assets and personnel with better technology that can make a real difference in unit performance and longevity.

    • Gerry Henwood – Clark-Reliance Corporation
    • Gerry Henwood is a Regional Sales Manager, based in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, for Clark-Reliance®, a leading manufacturer of instrumentation for many industries including power generation, oil and gas, and more recently, in renewable fuels market, covering Eastern Canada and Northeast USA.    Clark-Reliance trades under the Reliance® Boiler Trim, Jerguson® and Jacoby Tarbox® brands.    He started his career working in a family-own valve repair business and progressed to working for leading valve manufacturers before shifting to instrumentation beginning with ASME Section I Boiler applications.  An early accomplishment was winning the multiyear service contract for Philadelphia Electric Company, which also involved the replacement of main steam safety valves at PECO’s Eddystone Station with operating pressures approaching 5,000 pounds per square inch.     A collegiate rower and sports enthusiast, he brings a friendly team approach, helping plant personnel to reach reliable outcomes for liquid level and flow applications.  He has three daughters and three grandchildren all in his original hometown, Philadelphia.
