Prior to these new roles in Canada’s Parliament, Marilyn was a professional engineer who worked for Dow Chemical for 21 years in a variety of roles locally, nationally and globally. Marilyn later served as Engineering Manager and subsequently the Director of Engineering at Suncor before taking a consulting and business development role at WorleyParsons in Sarnia, Ontario.
During her career, Marilyn was the chair for the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineers and the National Director of Science and Industrial Policy for the same organization. She has been on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Faculty of Engineering at Queen’s University. Marilyn is also the first ever Female Engineer elected to Canada`s House of Commons.
Gladu is a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. She is also a youth leader, Camp Director and Sunday school teacher. She has a passion for music, reading, spending time with her family and doing other community-minded work.
From a political perspective, Marilyn has been an active member, advisor and director of the Conservative associations in Sarnia-Lambton both provincially and federally for close to 10 years. Prior to becoming the Member of Parliament herself, Marilyn supported current Member of Provincial Parliament Bob Bailey and former Federal MP Pat Davidson in the last 3 campaigns as part of their campaign team.
