He graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Technology. After a period of time in construction he spent four years managing the Electrical Distribution infrastructure for one of Sarnia’s refineries before joining Bluewater Power.\nChris began his career at Bluewater Power as the Vice President of Operations where he provided leadership and strategic direction to the Operations department. Responsibility for several lines of business within the utility led him to his new role of Vice President of Utility Development in 2016. In this position\, he plays a pivotal role in LDC Smart Grid initiatives including deployment of digital information\, control technology\, and real-time automated\, interactive technologies that help to improve the reliability of the electrical grid. Chris’ involvement in EV Charging Station deployment\, Grid Scale Energy Storage and Residential Energy Storage within Bluewater Power Distribution Corporation’s service territory has contributed to a green image as well as helped to stimulate economic development in the Sarnia-Lambton area.\nChris was originally appointed the VP of Bluewater Power’s newest affiliate\, Bluewater Regional Networks (BRN) in 2016 and was recently promoted to COO. BRN was formed to create a locally controlled\, carrier-grade high speed fibre network services company that provides reliable\, affordable and customer focused services in the Sarnia-Lambton area. Adherence to Industry 4.0 and Sustainable Chemistry principles are more than ever vital in taking on these challenges. A key aspect of these are the use of inline analyzers and their intelligent automation abilities. Inline opportunities in numerous applications will be discussed as well as their best practices. Examples include distillation columns and separation units\, scrubbers and strippers\, reaction vessels\, and auxiliary processes such as waste-water treatment and Co-generation facilities. Losing 80 pounds in the process Wes’ life changing attitude came after watching a YouTube video on Team Hoyt (a father who pushes his paralyzed son with Cerebral Palsy in road races and triathlons) entitled “CAN”. This father/son team inspired Wes to start “making a difference” in his own life and in the lives of others.\nFor the past six years Wes has been chosen one of two Canadians to represent Team Hoyt in the Boston Marathon. As a motivational speaker Wes inspires and encourages others to “dream big” and that “dreams do come true”. His message\, like the Hoyt’s motto\, is “Yes\, You Can”! As a non runner Wes’ dream was to qualify for the Boston Marathon and in April 2012\, after overcoming insurmountable odds\, that dream came true. In April 2013\, Wes co-authored his first book entitled\, “Destined To Run” (with Todd Civin\, forward by Dick Hoyt and Published by Mascot books). “Destined To Run” is more than a story about running\, it is a book about chasing after your dreams.\nAs a result of being in the heart of the Boston Marathon 2013 bombings Wes\, seeing the Hoyts example\, saw the need to make a change in his life that included others. He left his career course as an educator of twenty years and started up Canada’s first athletic ride-along organization created for those with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races which is now called Team Hoyt Canada. The mission of Team Hoyt Canada is to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities through running together. Green Energy Doors Open is an opportunity to meet new people and find out first hand about the opportunities and benefits of sustainable energy in our local community. \nLambton College will be opening its doors to its biggest current green energy research project: Lambton Energy Research Centre (LERC). This year\, LERC will show case projects within the centre\, within it’s satellite research centres and community based projects. \nThe Lambton Energy Research Centre aims to advance the research\, development and commercialization of renewable energy management and optimization technologies.
