SUMMARY:Dinner Meeting - Smart Power Supplies for Critical Power to Control Systems
DESCRIPTION:Update your Calendar\, Save the Date and Plan to Join Us for our Dinner Meeting\nWagg’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant – 420 Christina St. N.\, Sarnia \nDinner Meeting \n\n5:00 PM – Cocktails\n6:00 PM – Dinner\n7:00 PM – Presentation\n\nDinner Menu \n\nGarden Salad\, Fresh Baked Dinner Rolls\nMaple Glazed Atlantic Salmon\, Mashed Potato\, Mixed Vegetables\nDessert\, Coffee & Tea\n\nPresentation \n\nSmart Power Supplies for Critical Power to Control Systems\n\nA 24VDC power supply failure for a critical process controller or device can lead to an unplanned shutdown of critical plant equipment or processes. The inability to monitor key power supply diagnostics leaves plants unable to prevent such shutdowns or anticipate potential issues. Without critical event visibility\, plants don’t have the necessary tools to troubleshoot issues before they become catastrophic. Unfortunately\, all power supplies have an end-of-life. Uncertainty around when a power supply will reach that point makes it difficult to plan accordingly. This session provides a real look into the application of smart power supplies and how to utilize this capability to efficiently monitor critical power to the control system.\n\n\n\nSpeaker \n\nJay Hendrix – Emerson\n\nJay is responsible for product vision\, strategy\, and development for SolaHD connected products. Developed in 1986 and backed by ASME approval \, the valve has a remarkable 99.99% satisfaction rate with over 30\,000 units sold globally. The primary advantage of this technology over traditional rupture discs is its high accuracy and reliability. Because the pin’s stress remains below the elastic limit before buckling\, it cannot fatigue like a rupture disc\, which is irreversibly damaged when pressured beyond its yield point. \n \nSpeaker \n\nScot Poland – Kings Energy Services\n\nEastern Canada Regional Manager\nScot has 30+ years experience with Industrial Valve Sales & Service\n\n\n\n  \nReservations\, Cost & Contact Information \n\n$20.00 for ISA Members & Students\, $30.00 for Non-Members & Guests\nAll ISA Members and Guests are requested to reserve in advance\nPlease RSVP before Thursday @ 12pm (November 20th)\, by contacting Nina Moskai via phone at 519.336.7301 or via email to ninam@provincialcontrols.com\nIf you haven’t received an email RSVP confirmation within 48 hours\, please call Nina.\nMethod of payment is Cash only (at the door)\n⇒ E-transfer\, debit or credit card are not accepted. (Please confirm this as part of your dinner meeting RSVP)\nRice Pilaf\, Seasonal Vegetables\nDessert\, Coffee\, Tea\nCash Bar\n\nPresentation \n\nBuilding on Solid Ground: The Critical Role of Project Controls\n\nA project control specialist is essential to project success and must be in place at least a year before execution. Without this role in place early\, projects commonly suffer from baseline creep where budgets expand uncontrollably\, inaccurate cost forecasting that leads to budget overruns and funding gaps\, poor resource allocation resulting in bottlenecks and inefficiencies\, and a lack of early warning systems to identify risks before they become crises.\nWhen project controllers join too late\, they inherit poorly structured data\, inconsistent tracking methodologies\, and commitments made without proper financial controls\, making it nearly impossible to establish accurate baselines or implement effective change management processes.\nOur early involvement ensures that controls are embedded into the project’s foundation\, enabling proactive decision-making rather than reactive crisis management\, protecting the project from the budget overruns\, schedule delays\, and scope misalignments that plague projects lacking disciplined oversight from inception.\nDiscussing shutdowns and there schedules as well as utilizing P6 & MS projects.\n\n\n\nSpeaker \n\nBrooke Caravan – Project Controls – CMS Inc.\n\nBrooke has 14 years of Oil and Gas experience in Turnaround and Major Maintenance Environments across North America. In her career\, she has been trusted with ownership of the control processes on Turnarounds with budgets of up to $250M.\nConsidered a Subject Matter Expert in estimating\, cost reporting\, forecasting as well as reporting of progress and performance\, she has been integral in the creation and implementation of control systems resulting in highly accurate forecasting of final costs. Using Earned Value Analysis systems\, Brooke provides transparency and control in highly complex\, and highly pressured\,  turnaround environments.\n\n\n\nReservations\, Cost & Contact Information \n\n$20.00 for ISA Members & Students\, $30.00 for Non-Members & Guests\nAll ISA Members and Guests are requested to reserve in advance\nPlease RSVP before Thursday @ 12pm (January 22nd)\, by contacting Nina Moskai via phone at 519.336.7301 or via email to ninam@provincialcontrols.com\nIf you haven’t received an email RSVP confirmation within 48 hours\, please call Nina.\nMethod of payment is Cash only (at the door)\n⇒ E-transfer\, debit or credit card are not accepted.
